The Use of Pin Boards for a Bride

This gallery contains 2 photos.

As a bride, do you find yourself scrap booking and cutting out pictures from every magazine just to piece them together in a notebook for inspiration? That can get bulky, and if you forget it somewhere when you may need it, you are just out of luck. As Pinterest has come aboard, it has created … Continue reading

#1 Priority — Before Planning Your Wedding

Come up with a budget and make sure that budget sticks. I have seen in some instances where budgets are approximated at a higher rate of what actually becomes available.

How does this affect your planning?

1. The first thing you may do is higher a wedding planner. If your budget is not truly what you had expected, you may find your self in a bind later down the road when trying to fit the rest of your vendors in.

2. Your photographer and venue are the other two large costs that might take away a large percentage of your budget. The issues will arise beyond this where you have discovered you have 30% less than you had expected to have in your budget

3. Once your catering is approximated, you may find yourself trying to find additional budget, or reducing your guest size in order to meet your budget.

Recommendation: Figure out your budget and then put the detailed budget together before hiring any vendors. As a general rule, if hiring a wedding planner, make sure you are aware of what you can afford. For full-service, you can determine a guestimated cost between 10-20% of your budget depending on the type of full-service chosen. For a Day of Coordinator, you may be looking at approximately $700-1000. Depending on the package, your wedding planner can put together the remainder of the detailed budget for you, so you know what you can afford for a photographer, florist, etc.

Importance of understanding Church Rules ..

As brides plan the wedding of their dreams, we need to caution them to include policies and guidelines that are likely to be in place at the chosen ceremony venue. Our consultants know the preferred “rules” of what can and cannot be done at many of the church’s specified areas and can help guide the bride’s planning process. The most important rule is to consult the church personnel early in the process to be sure the limitations and preferences are clearly understood. Planning to cooperate fully and pleasantly with church guidelines is the order of the day.

  • Typically, a church will not allow permanently attached furniture to be moved.
  • No thumbtacks or nails can be driven into woodwork nor can anything be used that may deface it.
  • Saucers or mats must be placed under all plants or floral arrangements that may rest on the floor.
  • Floral arrangements or candles that require taping to the pews may not be allowed.
  • All arrangements for music, the ceremony and planned decorations should be submitted well in advance and are subject to approval of the priest, minister or rabbi.
  • Some churches may not allow the traditional Wedding March that is known to be so popular at ceremonies.

Many churches have a wedding coordinator with whom the bride will need to work with. This coordinator will be a good source of what’s possible and what isn’t at the church.
Some churches are requiring that decorations be kept to a minimum so as not to detract from the dignity of the sanctuary. There may be rules photographers need to follow such as not taking photos during the ceremony. If the church is large and a favorite venue for many brides, weddings may be scheduled close together on popular weekend dates. To facilitate traffic movement, many churches will request that photographs be tightly scheduled and that receiving lines be held at the reception location rather than the church. This has become a more common receiving line anyways.

Remember that each church or synagogue will have its own set of requirements and your wedding will be expected to follow them. Getting to know the church’s coordinator or officiating celebrant well in advance of the ceremony is to everyone’s advantage. Our wedding coordinators can help with the flow of that relationship.

Is a Wedding Rehearsal Necessary?

You may feel that a wedding rehearsal is not necessary because it should be pretty straight forward. The bride and groom just assume everyone will know what to do. That’s not really the case. The wedding rehearsal is to run through the actual steps of the ceremony. Who walks down the aisle first? How fast do they need to walk? How soon does the next person go? When does the organist switch music? When does the prayer come? When is the soloist queued to sing? What side of the bride does the father escort her on?

There are so many questions that are answered by running through the ceremony itself. It is even important for the pastor, or reverend or officiant who is reading the scriptures. So the answer is yes! Even if it’s to run through the wedding once or twice quickly. Going through it will let you know where to refine and fix little items prior to the wedding.

The Royal Wedding’s Big Day is tomorrow!!!

The big day that everyone has been waiting for is tomorrow early morning. The extravagant decor and costumes that will ravage the ceremony is going to be amazing. Media coverage all of the world has been ramping up for this big event and have expanded their technology to anything and everything new and digital so they have the ability to monetize and expand their user reach. Unfortunately, this am, it has been confirmed that there will be a cell blockage during the ceremony. What does this mean? This could mean, that what we have been waiting for, a play by play, streaming ceremony, may not happen. Pictures and videos will be taken and posted, but their may be breaks in the footage. For example, the long awaited “ring exchange” may not be accessible to viewers. Could be closed doors for some of the event.

I’m sure someone will be able to crack open the blockage and stream out some unlikely footage. I’m sure with the substantial setups and decor, costumes, and guest attire, there will be enough overwhelming footage to satisfy us all.

Can’t wait…
